Job Title: Civil Technical Office Engineer

Job Summary:

The Civil Technical Office Engineer will support the design, planning, documentation, and execution of civil engineering projects. This includes preparing detailed technical drawings, performing engineering calculations, assisting in cost estimation, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards. The role also involves coordinating with contractors and internal teams, supporting quality control, and resolving on-site technical issues. Candidates must have a strong foundation in civil engineering and a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical office operations.

Primary Responsibilities :

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Documentation:
    Prepare, review, and maintain technical documents, including civil engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.

  • Design and Drafting:
    Assist in developing and refining design plans for civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, drainage systems, and utilities.

  • Cost Estimation & BOQs:
    Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and tender documents for civil works.

  • Project Coordination:
    Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and project managers to ensure effective execution of project deliverables.

  • Quality Control:
    Monitor and evaluate construction activities to ensure alignment with design specifications and quality standards.

  • Site Supervision Support:
    Collaborate with site engineers and conduct site visits to assess progress and resolve technical issues.

  • Compliance & Standards:
    Ensure all designs and documentation adhere to local codes, safety regulations, and international best practices.

  • Material & Resource Management:
    Track material usage and assist with procurement to ensure timely delivery and efficient resource utilization.

  • Progress Reporting:
    Prepare and submit regular progress reports highlighting milestones, cost updates, risks, and corrective actions.

  • Problem Solving:
    Provide timely solutions to engineering and construction challenges arising during various project phases.

  • Software Use:
    Utilize engineering and project management software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SAP, and MS Project, for design and documentation.


Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience:
    Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical office role supporting civil engineering projects.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent software

    • Familiarity with civil and structural engineering standards

    • Skilled in BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and planning tools

    • Analytical and solution-oriented mindset

  • Communication:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

  • Attention to Detail:
    Ability to manage multiple deliverables with precision and efficiency.

  • Language Skills:

    • Fluent in English

    • Arabic proficiency is an added advantage

  • Regional Experience:
    Previous experience working in Gulf countries is preferred.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications:
    PMP (Project Management Professional) or other relevant engineering/project certifications.

  • Additional Software Skills:
    Familiarity with MS Project, Primavera P6, or other scheduling/project management tools.

  • Multilingual Skills:
    Additional language skills are advantageous based on the project location.


Working Conditions:

  • Office-based role with occasional travel to project sites.

  • May involve extended hours or weekend work to meet project deadlines.
