Title: Controls Engineer / Sr. Control Engineer

Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Location: Thiruvananthapuram
Type: Full Time

Purpose:

Support the programming and configuration of various industrial automation systems and the development of technical and non-technical documentation for flawless execution of projects. Work is performed in India, where emphasis is given to quality and innovation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Programming of various types of automation controllers/PLCs.
  • Programming of various types of Human Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA systems.
  • Programming of safety systems.
  • Programming of industrial robots.
  • Programming of vision systems.
  • Development of technical and non-technical documents.
  • Providing technical support to site engineers.
  • Interaction and coordination with vendors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Developing and testing new applications.
  • Assisting in project management and tracking for large projects or large portions of projects.
  • Responsible for project timing and milestones.
  • Mentoring and training new joiners.

Qualification :

Bachelor degree

Primary Responsibilities :

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in:
    • PLC programming using Rockwell Studio 5000 software.
    • HMI programming using Rockwell Factory Talk Studio and Weintek EasyBuilder software, etc.
    • Various industrial networks: Ethernet I/P, IO Link, etc.
    • VFD configuration and Servo drive programming (e.g., AB PowerFlex, Kinetix, etc.).
    • Robot programming concepts and PLC interfacing.
    • Safety control systems (e.g., Safety PLC, Safety I/O, Safety Relay, etc.).
    • Various sensors/actuators and their applications.
    • Pneumatic circuits.
    • Reading and understanding electrical drawings.
    • Scripting languages like C#, Python, etc.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing practices on the shop floor.
    • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes.
    • Familiarity with international standards on occupational safety and health.
    • Modular programming concepts.
    • Error-proofing techniques and systems.

  • Proven ability in technical skills and the ability to deliver with a medium level of autonomy, along with occasional guidance from senior engineers/team leaders/engineering managers.

Educational Qualification:

  • M.E./M.Tech/B.E./B.Tech/Diploma (in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics)

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in commissioning and troubleshooting of Rockwell control systems.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing (e.g., BIW weld cells, assembly lines).
  • Experience in PLC–Robot interfacing.
