General Manager- Plant Administration

Location: Chennai (Factory in Gummidipoodi) 

Experience: Minimum 10+ years

Key Responsibilities: 

The Plant Head will oversee daily administrative operations at the Gummidipoodi factory, 

ensuring smooth functioning across departments including HR, facilities, and security. The 

role requires implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency and compliance 

with all legal and environmental standards. In addition to managing the plant, the 

individual will act as the primary liaison between the company and local government 

bodies, ensuring the factory operates within regulatory frameworks. The Plant Head will 

also be responsible for vendor management, including procurement, contract negotiation, 

and cost control. Strong relationships with local vendors and officials are crucial for 

successful operations. 

Team leadership and management are vital aspects of this role, with a focus on 

performance monitoring and adherence to company policies. The individual will provide 

guidance and development opportunities to staff, ensuring smooth administrative 

workflows. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

A minimum of 10 years of experience in plant administration and local liaisoning, 

preferably in manufacturing or heavy industries, is required. Fluency in both Hindi and 

Tamil is essential. The role demands strong leadership, communication, and negotiation 

skills, along with a deep understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to 

factory operations in Tamil Nadu. Candidates must demonstrate experience working with 

local authorities and handling compliance issues. 

Preferred Candidate: 

Male candidates with proficiency in both Hindi and Tamil. Candidates from South or 

North India with relevant language skills and experience are welcome.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Extensive experience in plant administration or operations management, with a minimum of [X] years in a managerial role.
    • Proven track record in overseeing plant operations and administration.

    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
    • Proficiency in using ERP systems and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge:

    • In-depth understanding of plant operations, supply chain management, and production processes.
    • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Budget Management:

    • Experience in budgeting and financial management within a plant setting.

    • Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
