Key Responsibilities:

1. System Installation & Configuration:

   • Install and configure Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat, Debian).
   • Set up and configure Linux-based services such as Apache, Nginx, DNS, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.
   • Configure hardware and software systems according to organizational needs.

2. System Monitoring & Maintenance:

   • Monitor system performance, including CPU usage, memory, disk space, and network traffic.
   • Use tools such as top, htop, iostat, vmstat, sar, and others for performance tuning and issue resolution.
   • Perform system maintenance tasks, including software and security patches, firmware updates, and system upgrades.

3. Security Administration:

   • Implement and manage firewall rules, intrusion detection systems, and security best practices for Linux servers.
   • Apply security patches and updates regularly to ensure the systems remain secure.
   • Implement user access control, manage user accounts, groups, and permissions to ensure system security.

4. Backup and Recovery:

   • Plan and manage regular backup processes to safeguard data using tools like rsync, tar, or third-party backup solutions.
   • Create and test disaster recovery plans, ensuring that systems can be restored in the event of hardware failure or data loss.

5. Networking:

   • Configure network interfaces, routers, and VPNs to ensure secure and efficient communication between servers and other systems.
   • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, such as IP conflicts, DNS resolution, and routing problems.

6. Automation & Scripting:

   • Write shell scripts or use configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate repetitive system administration tasks.
   • Implement scheduled tasks using cron jobs for periodic jobs like backups, cleanup, or updates.

7. Troubleshooting and Support:

   • Identify and resolve system or application issues related to Linux servers, networking, and storage.
   • Respond to system alerts and logs to address operational issues promptly.
   • Provide support to developers, users, and other IT staff to troubleshoot and resolve system-related problems
