Position: Senior Chemical Engineer / Formulation Chemist – Lubricants & Additive Manufacturing (TBN-400)
Location: Jordan (with regional and international travel as required)
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer / Chemist to lead the development and scale-up of overbased calcium sulfonate additives (TBN-400) and other lubricant additive packages. The role involves formulation development, process design, scale-up, compliance, and technical support to ensure best-in-class lubricant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Formulation & R&D: Develop and optimize lubricant formulations and additive packages; test and improve product performance, stability, and compatibility to meet/exceed industry standards.

Process Design & Scale-up: Design manufacturing processes and equipment layout for TBN-400 and related additives. Manage pilot-to-commercial scale-up and troubleshoot production issues.

Compliance & Safety: Establish safety procedures for handling hazardous chemicals; ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Quality & Testing: Implement quality control protocols, conduct in-process and laboratory testing (ASTM/ISO standards), and maintain documentation.

Collaboration: Partner with supply chain, production, and commercial teams to align R&D with market needs; provide technical support to clients and stakeholders.

Cost & Resource Management: Monitor production costs, identify efficiency opportunities, and drive cost optimization.

Innovation & Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies and detergent chemistries; implement process improvements and mentor junior staff.

 

Qualification :

Bachelor degree

Primary Responsibilities :

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.

5–10 years of experience in the lubricant or oil-additive industry, with direct work on overbased calcium sulfonate detergents (TBN-300/400).

Proven expertise in chemical process design, scale-up, and troubleshooting.

Strong knowledge of additive chemistry, base-oil interactions, tribology, and ASTM/ISO lubricant testing methods.

Experience with HSE compliance and development of safety procedures.

Demonstrated leadership in R&D projects, lab/pilot plant operations, and cross-functional collaboration.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

Exposure to additive manufacturing techniques.

Familiarity with supply chain management and vendor coordination.

Experience with ERP systems and digital process monitoring tools.
