Job Title: Trader - Maize

Job Overview:
The Trader will be responsible for the development and expansion of the maize business both locally and internationally. The role involves sourcing maize from FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations) and farmers, supplying to consumers, and handling overseas buying. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in maize or corn trading and should possess an entrepreneurial mindset with a self-motivated, innovative approach to developing new business opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities :

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Market & Customer Development:

    • Develop a portfolio of global customers and maintain strong relationships with them.
    • Expand to new geographies and add new customers annually.
    • Conduct competitor analysis by staying updated on market trends to achieve higher market share.
  2. Strategic Planning:

    • Identify and advise management on new business ideas in maize and other agri commodities.
    • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies for value-added and customized products.
    • Evaluate market trends and customer needs to drive business growth.
  3. Sourcing & Supply Chain Management:

    • Source maize directly from FPOs and farmers.
    • Manage the entire supply chain from sourcing to delivery, ensuring product quality and meeting customer specifications.
    • Oversee international buying and ensure timely fulfillment of orders.
  4. Business Development:

    • Identify opportunities to diversify the maize business into new markets and products.
    • Build a robust foundation for the new maize business, leveraging strong business acumen and innovative thinking.
    • Collaborate with management to create and execute growth strategies for the maize trading division.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBA or PGDM from a reputable B-school.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in international maize trading and business development.
  • Proven experience in sourcing and supply chain management within the maize/corn or agri-commodity industry.
  • Prior exposure to international markets is highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and offer innovative business solutions.
